I made it in Visual C# 2008 Express edition, using just the standard .NET stuff. It features humans and zombies, with the humans running away and the zombies chasing them. Even though it took me longer than I originally gave myself, I think I still managed to succeed in what I set out to do: Make a simple possibly fun game in a very short amount of time. It has little polish, the graphics are just differently coloured circles for example, but all the friends I sent it to gave positive feedback, mianly calling it “simple fun”. Its not something you’d keep playing, but it should be able to keep you occupied for a few minutes.

I have done some more to it since then, expanding it by giving it a menu, back-story  and highscores, still have to add in different weapons, and probably a better AI. I was also going to give it better graphics, but those little circles have kinda grown on me… I still might make it scrolling though. Someone said I should add in multiplayer and if I do I’ll upload that version. I’ll probably stick it on the Olcris site if I do - I haven’t updated that site in a while. As you might be able to tell from the post’s title I might at some point set myself another simple challenge of making a game in a time-limit. It helps me, because I get a project finished which makes it more likely to get other projects finished.

The file should be attached to this post, it’s about 18KB big which means a fast download. It’s from when I finished my little challenge, so doesn’t have any menus or anything. You can move around with WASD, IJKL or the arrow keys, and hold down the left mouse button to shoot. It might have some bugs (although I think I got most of them) but then I made it in less than 2 hours all up including some bugfixing.

It seems that the flash animation Parliament Deathmatch was rather prophetic…  And that was made what, last year sometime?

Last week I would have said that Labor would have lost an election if it happened soon, now I have no idea. Rudd did some good things as PM, but a fair amount of really stupid things too. It is no surprise he is no longer PM. (I still like the stimulus packages from the start of his term, they were needed and nice and stuff)

I’d say more, but I’m rather tired from staying up and watching that soccer match… Which we won!

And I hope you all saw some fireworks. The Google  homepage had a countdown and fireworks.

I didn’t get fireworks though. Here, I had lightning.  Lightning is nature’s fireworks!

Yep, just felt like complaining about the heat. Oh, and it’s New Year’s Eve. Which means fireworks. And hopefully a cool evening. Because otherwise it means fire because it is so hot a spark could set all the grass outside aflame. Probably should have mowed the lawn before, but it’s a hill and lawn mowers don’t like me.

Also, yay I updated a blog!

•  Eat food.
  Mainly I eat mandarins, red frogs, and chocolate. they all taste good, and I’m pretty sure contain anti-depressents in some manner or form (I know chocolate does anyway)
• Have hugs.
  Hugs are a great way to combat depression or sadness. They are comforting, and apparently cause some chemical to run through your body that says something like “It’s all alright”
• Escapism.
  Keep yourself occupied doing stuff. Mainly I read books or program.
• Talk.
  Let it out. Find a friend, and tell that person what’s wrong and generally complain about your life. Letting everything go helps you get over it, and the easiest way to let it go is to tell someone about it. It doesn’t have to be in person, an instant messaging service like MSN works, but it’s better if you know the person and see them around so that they can help you with the other ones.

Well, that was the list. And, I guess you could say that this list kinda fulfilled two of what it said. And I also happen to be eating tim tams currently, so that’s three. And someone was very nice to me and gave me a hug this morning, and let me talk about stuff earlier, and I have a book here, so hopefully I’m all set. Until I arrive at the funeral….

Lucky for me I wasn’t affected as I was more interested in lectures than email.

Now, which one we are actually commenorating during Australia Day could be open to interpretation, but it is usually considered to be the arrival of the First Fleet, rather than the Rum Rebellion. But, then again, we could be commenorating both of them.

Anyway, happy Australia Day. Especially to all the Aussies out there.

I’m sure I had something I wanted to post about, but I forget. Oh well.
Anyway, I enjoyed Christmas, got to see most of my extended family. People are coming for lunch at my place here soon, siblings and another. We have a barbeque now so it should be good

I actually did have that job I mentioned in my previous post, and it is good. Hope I manage to keep it… (Or maybe I shouldn’t have said that because I think one of my boss’s might look at my website every now and then :P)

Also, I’m going to be doing Summer School (of my own choice) so I don’t have to do a certain subject later on. And I can do other subjects earlier. And generally mix-and-match my entire degree What fun.

It is now the 26th aniversarry of the TCP/IP protocol, so I hope some of you at least tried the move to IPv6.

And my browser based RPG I’ve been making for a while (don’t know if I mentioned it here though) is taking shape. I’ve even started on the Quest system (I was going to do that a year ago, but did other stuff to it like the PvP system instead) which should be good when finished. Especially since players will be able to make their own quests (although that is mainly to make it so I don’t have to keep coming up with new quests. Again, I’m lazy)

Anyway, I’m sure I had something meaningful to say, but I can’t be bothered remembering. Maybe it’ll come to me later. Hope you enjoyed some fireworks.

I did end up seeing Wall-E in cinema as it was such a great movie, but only got around to going once. I’ll buy it on DVD at some point I’m sure.

I think I might have got a job, which is good.

Second semester has been over for a while, hoping I passed.

And I have a new computer. And it is nice. I can actually play new games

And I might be making a game or three with various friends, which will be good if we actually get around to it.

And lots of other stuff, but I can’t really be bothered saying.

WALL-E is an awesome movie. I actually had written a very long post here, and then I realised that I’d sumerised the plot quite well, and that I didn’t really want to spoil it too much for anyone who may not have been lucky enough to see it yet. The movie doesn’t include much dialog, but the characters all express themselves perfectly. It includes a lot of themes, such as with polution, overdependence on technology, etc, but most of that I think isn’t really significant to what the film is. It starts with the world post-apocolypse, but it ends with a message of hope. But the world being saved by the two main characters was really more of a side-affect: It happened because of love.

I can’t really say what should be said about this film, it’s hard to describe with mere words and I’m not all that good at this anyway, the only realy way to understand it is to watch it. But when you do, remember that this is a film about a little lonely robot left alone on Earth, who’ll do almost anything for love.
